Feature Friday: Summer Trends
Summer is practically here which means the new Summer trends are as well. Summer is a perfect time to try out new trends because it is when you feel your best; the weather is nice, you are traveling/going on vacation and of course you have a Summer glow. The list goes on and on. This Summer, the trends are endless and I am loving (mostly) all of them. I have picked a few of the most trending ones here. First are the flowy high waisted shorts (everyone should for sure get on board with this one). These shorts are great because they aren't tight/highlighting your thighs (goodbye jorts), and because they are high waisted they make your legs look longer. When styling this trend, there are many things you can do with it. You could put a cropped tank with it, tuck in a loosely fitted shirt, or even wear your favorite muscle tank with it. If you wear a looser fitted top, make sure to tuck in at least the front in order to give your body some definition. There are variations to this trend such as the patterned flowy shorts and the wrap shorts. For shoes you can wear any type of sandal, espadrille or for an edgy look wear you favorite Winter/Fall ankle bootie with it. Next is the chiffon cami. This cami can be styled with almost all the Summer trends. You could put it with your flowy shorts, or tuck it in to a maxi skirt, harem pants or even flowy pants. It comes in all different colors, and looks more upscale than the regular tank. These cat-eyed sunnies are great because the frame has a multi-colored pattern. They can be worn to dress up an outfit when going to an event or casually worn on the weekends. If you are not into the full cat-eyed trend, try ones with a subtle cat-eye. Another sunglass trend are the 60s inspired circle sunnies. The mini satchel (which was featured last week) is popping up everywhere this Summer. Wear it when running your errands or when going out, it is pretty versatile and can go with nearly every look. As I mentioned last week, this trend might not stick forever so if you are planning on trying it out, go for a less expensive version before investing in a designer one. The espadrilles are something I don't see myself conquering but they are trending everywhere. Like the Birkenstalks (another trend I won't try) they have become this Summer's go-to shoe. You can pair them with shorts, cuffed skinnies and the Birkenstalks can be paired with culottes (a trend I will  covering later this weekend). They are easy to slip on and do look cute (when styled correctly) which is perfect for the Summer when it is almost too hot to care but you still want to look good. The wrap gladiator sandals are a perfect solution to the tonged gladiator sandals (which I always found to be uncomfortable). They also are easy to slip on and go with EVERYTHING. Pair them with skinnies, shorts, pleated pants, harem pants, flowy pants, you name it, they go with it. They come in a variety of colors and styles and are definitely an affordable Summer staple. A variation to them are the slip-on sandals with a slinged back that are also great and go with everything (see Forever21 for a cute and VERY affordable pair). Finally, the flowy pant. The flowy pant might be my favorite. It is a variation of the Harem pant, which is still a strong Summer trend from last year (see previous posts). The flowy pant is great because they are so unbelievably comfortable yet stylish. The Summer is definitely going to be hot and humid and you want to feel comfortable while still looking good. The flowy trend of the Summer (shorts, pants, and culottes) helps solve this dilemma. They are all so comfortable and breezy so you don't feel over heated but still look amazing. You can pair them the same as you would with the flowy shorts. I am loving the trends of this Summer and cannot wait to see what else is to come. Which Summer trend is your favorite? Tell me in the comments below. Happy Summer!
