Feature Friday: Low Peplum

A top or dress with a peplum cut that is lower than the normal mid-cut peplum is currently everywhere and for good reason. I have always liked the look of a peplum cut but think it takes a certain figure to pull it off since it cinches tightly at the hips and waist and then becomes fitted below it. It works well on curvy and straight figures but not so well on anyone who is in-between  With a lower peplum or a drop waist as it is also called, the cinch is looser and is closer to the hem of the blouse or dress which allows it to not accentuate any problem areas and work on any figure. With a top like this one it drops at your hips instead of your waist and with a dress it drops at your thighs instead of your hips. It is more comfortable because it is looser fitting beneath the cinch instead of being tight. The top shown above can be worn casually or dressy, depending on what you pair with it. For a Summer day, try pairing it with boyfriend shorts and sandals. In the Fall, throw a cardigan over it, light skinnies, booties and a cool necklace. You can dress it up to go out or dress it down for an everyday look as I have shown above. It can be found at a range of places but some stores I have found some great ones at are ZaraTopShop, and Forever21
